ICIA follows in the footsteps of the very successful “Conference über Ionenanalyse (CIA)” series, a biannual event (mainly oriented to a German speaking auditorium) initiated in 2001, the last one held in 2013 in Berlin. The aim of ICIA 2018 is to tie in the CIA concept and, according to the motto “A single method is no method”, to cover all aspects of ion analysis with respect to the variety of methods, instrumental configurations and areas of application.

The programme of ICIA 2018 will be arranged with invited keynote lectures and special sessions in order to present most recent developments, to review analytical methodologies for ion analysis and to draw attention to practical problems and their solutions.

The enormous diversity of methodological possibilities of ion analysis and the far-reaching application area will be reflected by presentations on the following subjects:

Methods of ion analysis:

  • Ion chromatography
  • Capillary electrophoresis
  • Flow analysis method (CFA, FIA, SIA, etc.)
  • Spectrophotometric methods
  • Electroanalytical methods
  • Sensors
  • Titration
  • Cuvette test and at-site/in-field methods
  • Coupling techniques (e.g. IC/MS, IC-ICP-MS, CE-MS)

General issues:

  • Automation in ion analysis
  • Miniaturisation of instrumentation (e.g. chip-based techniques)
  • Microanalysis
  • Trace ion analysis
  • Sample preparation for ion analysis

Fields of application:

  • Environmental analysis
  • Food analysis and agrochemistry
  • Industrial production
  • Clinical analysis
  • Material analysis
  • Research and development
  • Process control and continuous monitoring
  • Bioanalysis and pharmaceutical analysis
