Environmental contaminants ignore boundaries and ecosystem limits. Under the general theme Environmental contaminants from land to sea: continuities and interface in environmental toxicology and chemistry, experts from academia, government and industry will share the most recent advanced knowledge in environmental sciences in order to improve chemical risk assessment and support current and future policies. Among the keynotes approached, Plastic waste in the aquatic environments, Fate and effect of cosmetics and personal care products - Regulatory perspectives, and Climate change and environmental contamination by chemicals: do they combine to modulate ecological and health effects? will put frames of debates of international interests.

The scientific programme consists of 104 sessions amongst 10 main tracks. Have a look at the session descriptions prior to abstract submission:

Note about special sessions

Considerable time will be allocated to special sessions, which will traditionally focus on (i) topics of very high societal and timely concern, (ii) specific environmental cases in France as hosting country, (iii) topics beyond the core business of SETAC and how the Society can build bridges with other fields of expertise, as well as (iv) long range planning of SETAC Europe as a scientific association. Platform presentations in special sessions are only upon invitation by the session chairs; abstracts for poster presentations are welcome and need to be submitted following the standard guidelines.

One of the sessions will be dedicated to 'Analytical, environmental and toxicological aspects of technology critical elements'. This sesión is part of one of the main tracks of the meeting: Emerging contaminants: fate, effects and environmental risks

Technology critical elements (TCEs)  includes Ga, Ge, In, Te, Nb, Ta, Tl, the Pt group elements  and  most  of  the  rare  earth  elements. These elements are  now  essential  components  in  a  variety  of  applications  ranging  from  information  and  telecommunication  technology,  semiconductors,  electronic  displays  and optic/photonic to 'green energy' related technologies.  Recently, a new EU  COST  action  (COST  Action  TD1407)  focused  on  the  study  of  TCEs  was  launched.  This action will create a network of scientists working and interested on TCEs, from an environmental  perspective  to  potential  human  health  threats.
