Research fields include transport, deposition and air/sea-gas exchange of atmospheric trace constituents, such as mercury and persistent organic pollutants (POPs) with special emphasis on the coastal and marine environment.
Recent experimental activities were dealing with the global distribution and atmospheric chemistry of mercury. Study sites were and are the German Antarctic Research Station Neumayer, operated by Alfred-Wegener-Institute (AWI) and Mace Head at the western Irish coast, operated by National University of Ireland, Galway.
