ICOBTE is a non-profit conference series founded and organized by scientists and other professionals interested in the behavior, fate, impacts and management of metal and metalloid trace elements (TE) in the environment. The organizers and supporters are volunteers from academia, governmental agencies, and other public institutions and professional organizations.

Date: 16.07.2017 - 20.07.2017
National/International: International
Language: English
Type: Conference
Location: ETH Zurich, Switzerland
Conference web site at:   http:⁄⁄icobte2017.ch⁄

The ICOBTE conferences focus on the behavior, fate and management of trace elements, including their radioactive isotopes, in the environment and examine issues such as: mobility and turnover, bioavailability, bioaccumulation, toxicity, crop quality, food safety, risk assessment and management, contaminated site remediation, and regulatory protocols.

The general technical sessions will deal with the following topics:

  • Biogeochemical behavior of trace elements (TE) in the environment – from sorption, transport and transformation processes to global cycles
  • Interactions of organisms with TE: from molecular mechanisms to ecological effects
  • (Eco)toxicology of TE: effects of environmental TE contamination on health and ecosystem functions
  • Monitoring, risk assessment and management of TE in the environment
  • Micronutrient deficiencies and biofortification
  • TE radionuclides in the environment
