Starting in 1994 this workshop has evolved from an informal meeting on laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry into an inter-continental meeting covering all topics relevant for laser ablation in elemental analysis. Nonetheless this meeting has ever since and shall continue to keep its workshop character as a base for an intense exchange of ideas between users and researchers of the techniques
