The ESAS is the associated symposium of the EFS (European Furnace Symposium) combined with the International Solid Sampling Colloquium ISSC. Both conferences are platforms with long tradition where international scientists are discussing aspects of analytical atomic spectroscopy. ISSC was started in Wetzlar, Germany in 1984 and was held as a biennial meeting in Europe and abroad. EFS was started in Warsaw, Poland, in 1994 and was held in different central European countries every second year. In 2008 ESAS will be hosted by the German Working Group for Applied Spectroscopy (DASp) for the first time.

The topics will cover both, fundamental research and practical applications. Special emphasis will be put on vaporization and atomization/ ionization in atomic spectroscopy as well as on solid sampling.
The organizers cordially invite you to the ESAS 2008, to the beautiful city of Weimar and to the famous Bauhaus University. We would be happy to welcome a huge number of participants with many interesting contributions in the field of Applied Atomic Spectroscopy.
