ISSNThe ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) is an eight-digit number which identifies all periodical publications as such, including electronic serials. Each ISSN assigned to a serial publication is registered in an international database: the ISSN Register. It is the most comprehensive and authoritative source for the identification of serial publications world-wide. Since Journals during their history may change the publishing house, the same journal (by title) may have different ISSN numbers during their publishing period. The EVISA database tries to inform also about the publication history and therefore often contains information for more than one ISSN.
However, a special ISSN number should always return only one periodical publication.
PublisherThe EVISA database contains information about the publishing house of the journals. Due to the publication history of a certain journal there may exist more than one publisher, each responsible only for a certain period of time.
EditorThe EVISA database on journals contains the information about the current editor of the journal.
SubjectThe journals within the EVISA database are classified into subject areas with appropriate domain keywords. These domain keywords specify the field of interest for the journal, such as: Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Biology.
Subject areas are further classified by sub-areas such as:
Chemistry: Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry etc.
KeywordsEach journal is described with a short description ("Aims & Scope") providing further keywords for the kind of research published within the journal and the target audience. The database allows to search for keywords withbin this description.
StatusThe status of a journal is either "active" or "discontinued". If you look only for currently published journals you may restrict your search by setting the filter to "active".
