Scope

The 5th International Copper Meeting on "Copper and Interacting Metals in Biology" will take place in Sardinia and follows on from the previous successful meetings, held in Italy since 1997. In the last decade, the role of copper in biological systems has received growing attention and there is a steady increase in the number of groups working in the field. Copper research now stretches from structures and electronic features on the one side to copper’s role in human diseases like Menkes disease, Wilson disease, or Alzheimer disease on the other. Copper pathways have also been found to intersect with other trace metals, such as iron or molybdenum. This meeting will cover as many of these varied aspects as possible. The meeting is designed to provide a maximum of informal discussion and personal interaction.
