Interests:
Development and application of analytical techniques suitable for obtaining information on the speciation of metals/metalloids in biological samples, such as individual cells or other samples of limited amount. It entails the characterisation of unknown metal species present in a variety of samples and the interactions between metal complexes and cell components (e.g., DNA, RNA, proteins, peptides, enzymes etc.). To accomplish this, sample clean-up procedures and a variety of liquid chromatographic systems coupled to mass spectrometric techniques (ICP-MS, nanoES- and ES-MS/MS) are being developed.
Instrumentation:
ICP-MS
nanoES
ES-MS/MS
