ILAS 3000 is a sample handling robot for use in central milk testing laboratories. It provides efficiency through automation, and thereby significant reductions in operational costs.
ILAS means “Intelligent Laboratory Automation Systems”. It is a comprehensive concept for milk testing and Dairy Herd Improvement, and it covers everything from sample taking to database. The ILAS concept is developed by Intellitech Automation in New Zealand.
ILAS 3000 robot is one element of this comprehensive concept, and it is sold and supported by FOSS. ILAS 3000 is a solution for general use, not only for Dairy Herd Improvement. It does not require other ILAS elements nor any specific sample taking system, and it can be used with or without bar-code identification on samples.
ILAS 3000 is very easy to operate because
Each analysis line has a robot.
the operator places the trays with samples in the robots, and removes them again when all samples have been processed.
Each robot has two drawers for sample trays, to allow continuous operation without stops.
While a robot is processing one tray, the operator replaces the completed tray with the next tray.
Samples are moved from the tray to a sample carousel, placed in a water bath.
Samples are heated to correct temperature, being submerged in warm water while positioned in the carousel.
Samples identification by bar-code reading (optional).
The robot shakes the samples prior to analysis, to ensure that the analyser takes a representative sample.
Samples are presented to the stirrer and pipette of the analyser.
The sample vials are returned to the tray.
